Sempiternal
For this project, I was creating a design that would be able to move. I chose the designs based on a band I like named Bring Me The Horizon. The circles are actually a symbol called the flower of life that was used on one of the band's album covers. The heart is a design that I chose myself, adding the word 'Sempiternal' to the flowing ribbon. 'Sempiternal' is the name of the album, but it also means 'never-ending'.
Each design was drawn out by hand, and cut into circles. On the back of each circle are popsicle sticks cut to size for support and empty thread spools to enable movement. Skewer sticks were glued into the spool holes, and the sticks were then put through a plastic cardboard-like base that I painted black with acrylic paint. Once they were in place, I used plastic beads to secure them. Lastly, string was woven through the spools to make them move.
